To the Redskins faithful, all of you who remember the good old days, and the Darrell Green fans -- especially those of you who were kind enough to keep in touch with me through DarrellGreen.com (thank you!) -- I want to let you all know, if you haven't already heard, that I've been selected as a 2008 Pro Football Hall of Fame finalist.
It goes without saying that my family and I are extremely pumped! So much so that we've decided that, should I be fortunate enough to be selected, we should be there in Phoenix for the live press conference; so we're going. Hopefully, you all have the NFL Network, which will air the announcement live at 2:30 ET this Super Bowl Saturday. I want you all to see it and celebrate with us.
Now, don't get me wrong! Trust me, I don't know if I'm going to get in or not. But don't worry, we've got a plan: If I'm not selected, we'll just slide out the nearest side door lick our wounds, celebrate the selectees, and continue to enjoy the great western sunshine of Arizona.
Simply put, we'll live. Either way, I wanted to share my thoughts and plans with you. Let me know your thoughts, good or bad it doesn't matter; I want to hear from you.

Darrell, I’m a life-long Redskin fan as is my entire family! What you have accomplished on and off the football [field] has always been an inspiration to my spirit. Good luck on Saturday out in Arizona and God Bless. I believe that you along with Art Monk, who is long over due, will surely get in and have your day in the (Arizona) sunshine.

I just wanted to congratulate you on being nominated as a 2008 Pro Football Hall of Fame finalist. I think that we all know that you can expect to hear your name called when inductees are announced on Saturday afternoon. Hopefully, the Hall of Fame will finally induct Art Monk as well, since his time is way over due, and it would be even more amazing if Russ Grimm hears his name called and joins the party with you guys!!!

Darrell- I won’t have access to the announcement until much later, but my thoughts will be with you. I have several #28 jerseys, watched your glorious run around the stadium after that last home game and still miss your beautiful form, speed and talent very much. Your career, the way you conduct yourself on and off the field, all the good you do is already recognized by the entire Washington/Redskins community. May you return from your trip eagerly anticipating beginning to compose your inductees speech.

You gave my daughter a hug at your last game in 2002 as you walked around the field shaking hands. She was 11 years old at the time wearing your number 28. It was freezing cold, and I could not get her to put her coat on. She wanted you too see it. Thank You very much for that special moment.

Good Morning Darrell,
I have been a redskin's fan my entire life and remember the ol days of the NFC east dominating the playoffs and super bowl as the NFC participant. I am also stoked about you getting elected into the Hall of Fame with your first year of eligibility. I'm confident it's going to happen. I would also love to see your teammate as one of your Hall of Fame classmates Art Monk. He should've also been elected his first year eligible.
When you think of the NFL in the 80's there were two teams that were always a factor in the season and playoffs. The 49ers and the Redskins and you were a big part of that.
I was wondering if you'd consider becoming a defensive backs coach? In this new day of what they call a "shutdown corner" there was no one better at defining that term better than you. Teams would elect to throw in the other direction than test your ability to defend a receiver. And who can forget how you total shutdown Randy Moss when he was torching the league when he first came in.
I got my fingers crossed on your selection into the Hall of Fame and one last thing. K.I.T. - Keep It Together!!
Take care and can't wait to see you in Canton and hear your speech.

28,
You were the best - how can you even doubt that the hall will open it's doors for you? If you could only get a couple others in there with you - 81? - 66? But you're a shoe-in. You were what? 5' what ", a hundred and what? And didn't you come up and break bones supporting the run? Deion - who some say was the best - ran from the run whenever I watched him. See you at the ceremony.

Darrell,
I know you get this all the time, but my name is Mike S., I'm a US Sailor just back from 11 years overseas. I just wanted you to know that you were and are my all time favorite player, as a person and a player. I grew up in the pits of hell, and always used you as an inspiration which steered me to a very successful Naval career. I just wanted to wish you good luck on the vote tomorrow, its long overdue. You were the greatest corner of all time, and an absolute class act. Thanks for all the memories, and thank you for letting me take up a minute of your time.
